Easter Weekend

Good Stuff -

This weekend just felt like what every weekend should feel like. The only thing missing was enough sleep & crafting of any sort.

Nathan was here this weekend, we had lots of fun family time, lots of good food, a good Easter service @ church, I did two photo sessions, and we had more food. (Probably why I didn't lose any weight last week...)

I am continually reminded how blessed I am. As they say, God is good - all the time.

Not so Good Stuff -  For the first time in my life, we had serious storms & tornadoes here in East Tennessee. (Plus, Alabama, Virginia, & Georgia) It was very strange because that just doesn't happen here in the mountains. Noah was working and I was freaking out so I stayed at my dad's for a little while until everything blew over. Fortunately, there was no damage at his house or our home. A couple surrounding areas got hit pretty bad and there were some causalities reported. My heart & prayers go out to those who lost family members and homes in these Southern storms last night.

Monday Weigh-In

Ok, so I'm stuck. I weighed in and I'm still at.

196.5

I know this happens. I'm going to just push through it. This week hasn't been super encouraging because I've been allergy ridden & busy so I have yet to get any exercise in and I can't say I've been sticking to my 1200 calorie diet that well. I'm blaming it on my lack of self control the weather. ;)

Onward we go!

Can I get-a AMEN?!

I have to admit that I have been worried (but praying) about replacing our heat pump. (The cost was over $4,000 and well, we simply don't possess that kind of money right now.)

For those of you who doubt, God is still in the prayer answering business. ;) We received the service affidavit from the HVAC company for our insurance today and they had written & recommended a complete replacement. Even with the lightning damage, we weren't sure if it was a "fixable" solution or not but new we we're going to have to get a new heat pump either way. Come to find out, repairing any damage to the unit is obsolete due to the age. I was very worried about the money it was going to require to get this replaced but prayed about it & had some other people pray as well. As long as the insurance company approves it, we will only have the cost of our deductible. God is good!!

Totally off-topic, but I had a serious sad Mommy moment today. I dropped Zeke off @ daycare and then came back in to drop off his car seat. I peeked in his room and there he was sitting at one of those super short tables with his own big boy chair and feeding himself breakfast like such a big boy. I swear I came thisclose to crying. I actually teared up. He looked so grown up. I cannot believe how fast he is growing up. *sigh*

(Almost) A Big Boy.

Zeke's first birthday is almost 3 weeks away! It's really insane how fast this past year has went. I always thought the whole 'they grow up so fast' was a mom cliche. No....it's painfully true. I can admit that I am slightly distraught over his 1st birthday. It's bittersweet.

Ok, enough of my moping. His birthday party is in less time that his actual birthday so I really needed to get on his inviations. I finally ordered them today. *fingers crossed* that I get them before the end of the week so I can get them out.

Still lacking on a "theme" I think it's just going to be "cute". Hah.

I just pulled together a little collage of the pictures I've taken so far to mark his growth. I really like it for a personalized invitation that took me a lunch break to create. :)

Weigh-In Monday

I can't say that last week was the best week I've had. In addition to just having a rough week and only going to Zumba once, I had homemade biscuits, gravy, eggs, sausage, and bacon on Saturday night and homemade (super delicious) waffle last night. Obviously that doesn't amount up to much in terms of weight loss ;) But hey, Noah's aunt is one of the best cooks I know and they were goooood.

Today's weight: 196.5

Very little weight lost last week but no weight gained! It's slowly but surely coming off and when I step on the Jamaican beach in July my butt will not be eating my bikini. ;)

So I said to myself...

The lack of blogging this week is due to, for lack of better words, a horrid week. Not that I'm usually a negative person or actually even really feel negative in general but let's just break this down:

Sunday - Come home to an 81 degree house. Assume ancient heat pump needs servicing.
Monday - Wake up with a nasty head cold/sinus thing. Work. Have guy come out to the house to work on heat pump. Find out that we have to replace it. Freak out for the remainder of the afternoon. Spend the evening with Noah & Zeke and do a little gardening to make me cheer up.
Tuesday - Wake up at 6am with a stomach bug. Miserable. Miserable. Miserable. Call in sick. The previous day's weeding in the garden has also caused my eyes to swell, splotch, & turn red. I look god awful. I spend the day in bed (I suppose in it's own way that was a plus, actually).
Wednesday - Today is my off day. Wake up feeling 80% normal. Take Zeke to daycare and run a hundred errands. Get a second opinon on heat pump. And a $5300 estimate. *gulp* The rest of the day is fairly normal. Instead of being really hot, the house is now like 65 and now we're cold.
Thursday - Go back to work. Serious network/register/internet issues. Everything is messed up. Have sister pick up Zeke from daycare and send him to Mom's for awhile. Work a 10.5 hour shift without actually fixing anything. Go the the grocery store. Finally get to pick up Zeke and get to bed at 1am.
Friday - Work. Same issues as day before. Zeke ends up spending the night with Noah's parents. Work about another 10 hours.

We're to Saturday now. Thankfully, work issues are mostly resolved. I get to spend late afternoon through tomorrow with Zeke. (I miss the little booger.) I feel totally better and the weather is pretty. :)

Of course, there were still many good things this week. Among them: at least I got some gardening done, it was lightning damage to the heat pump so at least we'll get some money to help fix it, I got to spend all day Tuesday sleeping, I got to sleep Friday night without having to wake up once, I probably boosted my weight loss by a couple pounds, I have groceries in the house, I have a great family who helps me out, and a hot nurse of a husband, and the sweetest baby boy anyone could ask for. Everyone has bad weeks and I guess this was just one of those weeks. It happens :)

I always have great comfort in knowing that God is always there and I just need to trust in Him.

Agenda for this weekend: some Zekey photos. Some artsy-fartsy time.

Weigh In Monday

Another week has gone by! It's unbelievable how fast everything goes....in almost a month my sweet baby will be ONE!

Ok, off topic.

Weighed this morning: another 2 lbs down!!!!!!

See? No fad diets here. Just good ol' calorie control & excercise. It may be slower but I believe this is the best way to lose weight in the long run.

"Extreme" Couponing *sigh*

I don't know how many of you coupon. I do. I may not be a coupon queen or anything but I'm convinced couponing is an art. Sure it takes time, but if it saves me even $5 off a grocery bill then it's worth it. To me a coupon = cash.

I've heard about this Extreme Couponing reality show on TLC. I have yet to watch it but have followed some of the reviews on it. Apparantly, it showcases couponers to be "extreme" (kinda nutso) about couponing. (You know, it's one of those life scenarios where they show a few extreme cases and that's how most people assume everyone who particpates in that is)  I, for one, really dislike it when a few people in any particular group negatively affect the views of a whole group. I can assure you that almost all people who coupon do not buy 69 packages of meat and 40 boxes of cereal. In my opinion, that's borderline hoarding.

Anyways, I got the following article through an e-mail and found it to be a very good read. I must heavily agree with the gal who wrote it. I thought it was worth a read.

Silly Baby.

I don't think I've mentioned that Zeke is into everything. Within the month, he's finally learned to crawl and boy does he crawl! He's all over the place. He also figured out how to pull himself up to stand last week so he really enjoys that. He is definately itching to walk now!

Getting ready in the mornings is a new treat. The other day I was turned around in attempts to tame my hair and when I turned around.....

And there's the whole "I want to feed myself like a big boy" phase...

(Note the applesauce is on the side of his head.)

Goofy kiddo.

Old Chair meet New Fabric

Our kitchen table, which has ended up being my craft table, was just a basic $100ish table from WalMart. (wood top, wrought iron legs, basic wrought iron/off white upholstered chairs). In the process of things, I painted the top black to give it a little change; however the chairs were still lacking in general. Thanks to a littlefabric from Hobby Lobby, I got myself some look-at-me colorful chairs!

I swear I have high resolution files somewhere. *sigh*

It was super easy.

A: I unscrewed the seats off the legs.
B: Placed the seats face down on top of the fabric
C: Stretched the fabric tight and used my (borrowed) staple gun to attach the fabric to the seats (Make sure to pull tightly and you'll need to fold the corners)
D: Reattach seat to leg frame

VIOLA!

Weigh-In Monday

Alright dudes.

I've lost 5 lbs. YES! I know most of you are probably thinking "5 lbs? That's nothing." But hey, before Zumba everytime I weighed myself either A: I gained some ounces or B: nothing changed.

Current weight: 198.4

I haven't been below 200 lbs in about 4 years. :D

Did I mention that I took some "before" pictures last week? *shudder* My butt is totally eating my swimsuit.

Week 3 here we go...

Hot Mama.

I don't have that many pictures of me. Reason being: I am usually behind the lens. Last night was just one of those nights where I didn't feel like doing laundry or housework or any of the usual really. So I turned on some Flogging Molly in my iPod, set up my tripod, grabbed my cordless remote, and started snapping away while doing a variety of odd things. It was fun & the results we're kinda cool.

Mr. Bubbles

Zeke's cutting teeth so he's been a bit emotional the last few days. One thing that always makes him happier when it's close to grumpy/bedtime is his bath. This kid is a natural water lover.

Now that he is crawling EVERYWHERE I set him down in the floor to get his jammies and he started crawling around in his hooded towel. Only a first time mother would find this as amusing as I did.

Does the cheesy Mom-ness ever end? I don't forsee it.

Sweetness.

I'm just saying that I have the sweetest, cutest, most wonderful baby in the world.

*sigh*

He melts my heart.

Tis' the season...sorta.

Ok, ok, so I know it's just starting to feel like spring buuuuuut I forgot to post this around Christmas time. Plus, you never know when you want to get a head start on this year's Christmas gifts!

My hubby's parents and his grandmother are those kind of people who are reaaaaally hard to shop for. Like, they don't really need anything and you don't wanna just get them house robes and socks. What do you get those kinds of people?

Homemade gifts.

So, here's what we did:

(Hubby me, our kiddos, his sister & husband, their kids, his brother & wife, their kids) It spells out their/our last name.

The actual pictures were placed in individual and collage frames. They were well loved by his parents & grandmother and are proudly displayed in their homes!

Perfecto. The only problem? I have no idea what we're going to do this year.
