Why I don't decorate for Fall...

because I'm a loser.

No, really though, I just don't have time. Or patience. I usually spend fall time getting my landscape ready for winter & fall cleaning chores. The thought of putting out fall decorations just to put them away in a couple months is too much for me. Sure, I'll put out some pumpkins that Zeke & I decorate but that's usually the extent.

Go ahead, put me on the home decor naughty list. I'll understand.

Not to mention, Zeke wears his fall decor on his bottom...

Necklace win from {Creative Carmella}

Creative Carmella hosted a giveaway for one of her handmade necklaces on her blog recently and *shock* I won! I pretty much rarely never win anything so I was super happy. I was even more excited when I got the necklacke because I love it! The pop of red will be perfect for fall :)

So thanks Carmella!! :)

Hungry eyes.

See that? Wolf totally wants to eat my tasty baby. Kinda creepy? Yes.

This was part of our trip to our local park this week. I really should go more often..hiking & biking trails, a mini educational center, planetarium, & animal habitats for Zeke to amaze over.

Mr. Grumpy Gills

Plus, the deer are really friendly.
I can easily give him free run without worrying (too much).

Zeke is a nature boy. He loves being outdoors and exploring.

And I love the sun shining in this one grassy patch in the woods.

Summer's End.

Fall is coming...the days have been nice & warm, nights have been cooler, I've caught the whiff of burning leaves a couple times, & billboards are sporting advertisements for local corn mazes. (Here in the South, any temperatures this time of year below 70 degrees qualify as a 'cold snap.')

We are squeezing in in those last days of popsicles, dirty knees, & running around in a diaper. (Well, for Zeke at least.)

Then when he tires of all that (say about bedtime), he & his dirty knees zone out in front of the all knowing Moose A. Moose on Nick Jr.

Sometimes I wish he would quit growing up so fast.

On the grown up side, Noah & I squeezed in a late night date (courtesy of his aunt who we call 'The Nanny') where we vacuumed the car & saw the movie Contagion. Romantic, right?

Good weekend. :)

Ribbon Bookmark

These bookmarks are simple, simple, simple & cute! I made one at my "Mommy Group" yesterday and took the supplies home to make another for one of Zeke's daycare teachers.

Disclaimer: I did this in sitting in bed watching TV about 11pm last night. Please excuse my wrinkly sheets & the serious lack of any type of quality to the photos.I intend on making this again and promise to put more effort into presentation. ;)

You'll need:

  • Button
  • Needle & Thread
  • Ribbon about 17" long (if you read really big books you might want to allow a couple extra inches)
  • Child's hairband

Step 1: Place hairbow on the inside of one end of the ribbon and fold the ribbon over enough to cover the band.

Step 2: Sew the ribbon fold to secure the hairband. (Confession: I don't know how to sew and even I did it.)

Step 3: On the other end of the ribbon, fold the fabric down the backside. When you sew the button on, it creates a neat edge. Tip: Make the fold slightly larger than the button.

Step 4: Sew on the button. Here you can see that I obviously did not follow my own advice and didn't make my fold large enough. It looks better when there is a slight gap above the button.

Once all that is done...well, your done!

Overall, it took about about 10-15 minutes to complete this. As I said, simple & cute.

Weigh in Monday (on Wednesday)

How many weeks has it been since I've done this?! Too many. Once we went to Jamaica, I just...stalled. I blame it 30% on my PCOS & 70% me. Maybe I should blame it on the Nutty Bars?

I've been able to maintain my weight but haven't lost anything. I'm assuming all this because I've been too scared to step on a scale in over a month. I'm still doing Zumba but I don't think that counts if I bake sweets 3x a week. (Last week's red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese glaze we're reaaaally good...) Seriously though, sometimes I think about moving in with the Keebler elves.

Does anything ever use a Wii Fit? I actually really enjoy it and I think that it totally counts as an exercise regimen. I can yoga, aerobics, & strength. I can even 'step' while watching TV. Unfortunately, the Wii Fit's choice of tearing you down encouragement is to tell me I am obese upon successful completion of weighing in. The Wii Fit has never had a Nutty Bar.

Onward we go!

{Cameron}

Using one of the last hot Sundays of the year, I had a wonderful session with Cameron & his Mom & Dad. He is such a sweet & handsome little guy...not to mention a total camera model. He's grown up a lot since our newborn session & I look forward to being able to capture more shots of this little guy in the future!

Such a gorgeous family, too. Make my job easy ;)
