It's a Party! ... For Blogs!

Check out Somewhat Simple for her Blog Link Party! I linked a few of my projects there and noticed there were a TON of stuff from other people for those of you who like do-it-yourself crafties, cooking, etc.

Nobody wants a Muffin Top.

I must be crazy for putting this on a public blog....

I'm in the process...again...of losing weight. My highest weight (235, eek!) was about 2 years ago. Through diet/excercise, I dropped 30 lbs in 6 months. Then I got pregnant with Zeke; fortunately I was able to keep my weight gain to 30 lbs. I have been able to drop all of that weight and was left at 205 lbs.

I'm back to dieting/excercise because my goal is to lose 40 more pounds. 50 would be nice.

No extravagant diet plan here, I am just keeping my calories around 1300 a day. If I screw up? Tomorrow's another day. As for excercise...can anyone say ZUMBA? I LOVE this. I am attending as often as I can between work & Zeke. Just started a couple weeks ago, though. I am proud to say that I have been six times now and have lost 3 lbs. I know that's not alot but it's a definate start.

NOW: 202
GOAL: 160

Before and After pictures? Eh, maybe.

I intend to record my progress, including weight, weekly on this blog. (I'm pretty sure I've lost my mind.)

Blueberry Muffin Sunday

Nathan came in for a visit this weekend. It was kinda icky all weekend, of course so we went to Chuck E Cheese where we got one of those token instant drawing photographs.

Of course, we all didn't fit but we squished. I am almost certain that this is one of my favorite family pictures ever. It captures each of us in our own little way.

Also, Nathan & I made blueberry muffins Sunday morning.

While I was busy taking the picture, he dumped the entire carton of blueberries in.

 Very Berry Muffins.
Please excuse my ugly pan. It has seen better days.

SAY BLUEBERRIES! (Zeke isn't nearly as enthused about the picture as he was eating the muffins.)

This is one of those little moments I want them to remember when they grow up.

This last weekend was warm, pretty, and had me itching for a photo session. Charlene and I have been meaning to do some updated family pictures since the kids (especially Tori!) have grown up so much in the past year.

One awesome Mom & Dad + an adorable princess of a toddler + a crazy energetic four year old = fun photo shoot. O yea, and there were bubbles!

(I told you he was crazy energetic)

Such a cute family ... (and one of my favorites!)

5 Years of Love = One AWESOME Trip.

This May will mark 5 years of being married to my goofy but loveable husband. Five is my favorite number and seems to be a little "milestone" anniversary so we wanted to do something different.

We're going to Jamaica. :D !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We're also going with Charlene & Zac (my brother and sis-in-law) and I'm super excited about that, too. We all went on our Disney World honeymoon together and we usually travel together. Of course, a ridiculous amount of research went into which island & which resort but we finally got it booked last week. We decided to stay in the Couples Swept Away which is all inclusive for four nights. We've never traveled to an international tropical location before so I'm really pumped about getting to do this. We're not going until July since I won't be able to get off work until then so we have a few month wait but hey, I have a reason to be excited everyday for three months. :)

The only downfall would be that this will be the first time I have been away from Zeke for so long and as much fun as I'll be having I know I'm going to miss the little booger.

Did I mention that otherwise I'm STOKED about this trip?!

Happy Mother's Day, birthday, and anniversary to me!

Workin' Momma

Zeke's first day of daycare was Monday. I think I handled it well and he was such a trooper! He threw his paci in the backseat on the way there and I didn't realize it until well after I dropped him off so not only did he do well at his first day in a strange place away from Mommy but he did it without his paci! (He was eager to be reunited with it though) Mommy is so proud of her big boy :) Today is day #2 and I bet I miss him more than he misses me.

I enjoy working. I really like being busy in general. (Don't get me wrong...I have days where I don't feel like getting out of my pj's and nights where I totally veg out on the couch once Zeke's asleep...) So when I got pregnant it was never a question of whether I would stay home or work because I knew I wanted to work. I worked up until 3 days before my induction date (with some super swollen feet!) and came back 4 weeks after Zeke was born. It was a lot to adjust to and I got overwhelmed very quickly. So, I took the winter off work. I thought I would have been stir crazy and dying to go back to work but this is one of those things that end up changing I suppose. I REALLY enjoyed my time off. I think it was one of the best choices of my life. Now that I've returned to work we will have some adjusting to do. 40 hours of work a week, plus my photography, plus being a mommy, and the day to days of running the household. SHEW! I'm ready for it though :)

(Maybe this will help me drop the 40 lbs. I'm goaling for.)

I can safely say that I think once we have kid #2 (not in the immediate future, yet), I will enjoy staying at home with my children.

A quickie..

I have this end table. It's pretty, not the greatest quality in the world. (My budget doesn't really contain new furniture right now) The top of it had seen better days...scuffs, permanent water marks, some weird spot that won't come off (I expect that would my compliments of my ever cute-destructive-curious 3 year old niece). So since I was in a fabric project mode, I decided just to cover the top. It was extremely easy...I got about a quarter of fabric and hot glued it underneath the top.

It's not animal print btw...from up here it looks like it but it's actually a little flower design. Nothing spectacular but it works. :)

P.S. Please ignore my half paneled walls. It's on my to-do list.

Kitchen Cabinet Makeover is FINALLY finished!

About a month or so agao, I decided on a kitchen cabinet makeover. I debated staining, a Rustoleum cabinet kit, and painting. I went with painting because A: It was easier B: It was cheaper C: It offered more color options. I took a Facebook vote with white or green and though the majority (ok, like everyone) said white...I picked green. Hey, I value the opinons...I just really liked the green! (Turns out it was a much better choice anyways because the white would have washed out the floors and countertops)

Being that the cabinets are 51 years old and not necessarily well cared for, they had lost their lustre and the hardware was just sadly outdated. Not even "retro" outdated, just ugh. I scored the new knobs for the doors & pulls for the drawers at Target for about $70. (Not bad since I needed like 34).

So this is a section of the kitchen

I had already added the new knobs & pulls a few weeks before. That is actually what prompted this cabinet makeover.

Here's the wreck of the process (this is the other side of the kitchen)

I did the kitchen in sections. I used a really awesome primer. I should have checked the brand before I threw the empty can was somewhere along the lines of Gripper Grey. The other primer I purchased to finish them off was a white primer and I wasn't as fond of it. Since I didn't sand the cabinets, I used two coats of primer and once they dried I applied two coats of paint.

To be frugal, I didn't buy new hinges. I took the new knobs, pulls, and old screws and hinges and spray painted them with:

It gave them an pretty almost sparkly (not teenage girl sparkly but shimmery-like)
I have no idea why I didn't take an after picture but here is a before. Ick, huh?

Did I mention I did this ALL by myself?! :D (I don't think it counts that Noah unscrewed a few really stuck screws.) So several late nights and many hours later....

My kitchen looks totally different. There's less "bulk" and it seems just more open & friendly. This is probably my favorite thing I've done. I actually think I'll be sad when we sell our house one day. This was also the hardest thing I've done to the ouse and because of this I am pretty sure I will never paint cabinets again.
